Aurora Preserved Flowers

**A Note on how to keep your flowers as fresh as possible before arrival at Aurora.**

Make a fresh cut on the stem of all flowers with scissors and place in a vase with water in the refrigerator. Do not leave out at room temperature. Keep as much of the stem as possible. Do not put on a plate, in a bowl or in a plastic bag. Bring in to our office at the earliest possible time after the occasion. This is the best approach to keeping your flowers as fresh as possible upon arrival at Aurora Preserved Flowers. In order to best serve you, please bring all available sizes and types of flowers, if possible. It is better to have an abundance of flowers in order to best fill out and complete your order. Thanks!

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. Aurora accepts credit cards, personal checks and cash. We ask for a 50% deposit on the total when your order is placed.

How long will my order take?

Most orders typically take about 4 – 6 months to complete.  Please contact Aurora and they will do their best to accommodate you if you have a specific deadline to meet.

We are currently backlogged due to high business demand and supply shortages caused by the pandemic. Our current backlog is about 8 – 9 months at this time. This wait time is liable to fluctuate depending on circumstances. For more information, please contact our office. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Can I ship flowers to you? Will you ship my completed order to me?

A beautiful keepsake starts with beautiful flowers. We have had only limited success with flowers that are shipped to Aurora. They are simply too fragile to be shipped effectively after an event. We highly recommend having the flowers brought directly to us asap after the occasion.

If you can have someone deliver the fresh flowers to Aurora, we can ship the completed order to you.

That being said, we do accept shipped flowers and have used them many times in the past. Just keep in mind shipped flowers will appear degraded, even after all the efforts we can provide to restore their appearance (trimming, floral spray, etc) Their is also a chance your flowers may arrive frozen, wilted or otherwise damaged beyond use.

Other options include drying the flowers before being shipped or having Aurora provide the flowers for you at a fee. If you must ship fresh flowers, always use a floral water tube or “pick” (available at Walmart and JoAnnes) for each flower and arrange shipping asap. Treat your flowers like living beings on life support. Water tubes are their lifeline.

How fragile are embedments?

Not fragile at all. The embedments are made from Polyester Resin and are very durable. They can be scratched, chipped or even broken but not easily!

What does it cost to have pictures and charms added to my order?

Pictures and charms add an extra dimension to your pieces and personalize what the embedment means to the one it is intended for. Pictures can be inserted for an extra charge of $5.00 per item. Some customers put the picture in the piece facing forward so it visible when being looked at from the front and some prefer it to be on the back. It is your choice. Please provide us with the correct size photo you would like to use, keeping in mind any other text or messages that will be inserted next to the photo also. An example of this would be a photo of a person with the “in loving memory” birth and death date below it. An example of this can be found in a photo on the gallery page. For more information contact Aurora.

Charms are also popular and are selected for use in the majority of orders by our customers. Most charms cost $2.00, some cost a little more. Aurora carries many different styles and updates the selection several times a year. An example of some of the charms offered can be seen in a photo on the gallery page. Aurora also offers a lace background at an additional charge.

Customers can also bring in their own items to add to their pieces, such as ribbon, rosaries, rings and other jewelry. This will be done at no charge to you.

Can you put anything in an embedment?

Aurora has done many unusual orders over the years, including parts for businesses, insects, business cards, and various objects. Just ask us and we will let you know.

What types of flowers can you use?

Most types of flowers can be embedded. Some of the most popular include: Large Roses, small Sweetheart Roses, Carnations, large Gerbera Daisies, small Daisies, Passion flower, Verbenas, Pansies and small Sunflowers. Some flowers that do NOT embed well are Spider Mums, Tulips, large Sunflowers, Daffodils, and some other types of garden flowers. Note that some flowers can change color when dried, including some types of Carnations and Roses. Most flowers will be touched up with floral spray to enhance color and prevent a wet or saturated look when embedded.

Freeze dried flowers can also be embedded but their appearance will be somewhat compromised because of the method that was used to dry them.

How do I care for my embedment?

Embedments are quite durable and require little attention. They can be cleaned with furniture polish. Do not use any type of cleaner with abrasives or cleaners with Ammonia such as window cleaner.
